The city of Cajamarca holds an important place in the history of the Spanish conquest of South America and Peru. Being an important Inca citadel, it became a typical colonial city, now recognized for its churches and colonial mansions preserved almost intact, it is a living museum waiting for every visitor. You will be able to see the “Rescue Room” (Attention from Wednesday to Sunday from 09:00 am to 01:00 pm and from 02:30 pm to 05:00 pm), famous place of the meeting between Francisco Pizarro and the Inca Atahualpa where Pizarro promised to free Atahualpa if he filled the room with gold and silver. Atahualpa had the room filled, but Pizarro broke his promise and then ordered Atahualpa’s execution in the parade ground.
